Sadiq Khan: Do something simple for refugees

By Jonathan Bartley

"It's Refugee Week this week. I've written a short blog post about things people can do to get involved in it" local MP Sadiq Khan Twittered yesterday.

I followed the link to his blog here: "Refugee Week: Do something simple" (http://www.sadiqkhan.co.uk/index.php/blog/5-general/503-refugee-week-do-...)

Radio 5 Live He recommends: "There are all sorts of things to get involved with, from football matches to tea parties, so I highly recommend you have a look."

Great stuff...er..as far as it goes. But he doesn't seem to be aware of the window of opportunity in Parliament currently. An amendment is being tabled to the Health Bill that would give Refugees greater access to health care. (more details here: http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/node/9628)

I twittered him back: "Can you ask colleagues on Health Bill committee to give refugees secondary healthcare without charge?"

No response as yet. A shame. Even an answer would be doing something relatively simple for Refugee Week.
