Power 2010, the UK coalition that aims to "change politics for good" is encouraging people to join thousands of others in coming up with ideas to "fix the system".
Power 2010 is a grassroots campaign to renew and strengthen Britain's democracy from the bottom up. It involves campaigning, charitable and voluntary groups and is committed to giving everyone across the country a say in what reforms are needed to bring real change to politics. It is offering another opportunity for input.
Power 2010 coordinator, George Gabriel says: "What changes would you like to see? Submit your idea here http://power2010.org.uk/yourideas - you now have until midnight on 30 November 2009 to get them in."
In the weeks since Power 2010 launched, a host of proposals have already come in from the general public.
Gabriel says: "We’ve received over 3000 ideas so far and, together with yours, they will be sent to a Citizens Convention in early January 2010 where around 200 randomly selected citizens from all regions and demographics will filter out the weak and ill supported ideas to leave a shortlist of 20-30 top reforms."
He explains: "These ideas will then be opened to a public debate and vote with the five most popular becoming the Power 2010 Pledge - and forming the backbone of a national campaign at the next election to change politics for good."
Power 2010 partners - including the religion and society thinktank Ekklesia - believe there is a historic chance to change democracy in Britain for the better with fairer voting, cleaner politics, and more power to local communities.
Gabriel added: "The Pledge will be taken to every MP and PPC across the country by diverse teams of local citizens. It’s your turn. You decide."
