Economy of Life: An invitation to theological reflection and action

WCC

Abstract

Ekklesia is pleased to be able to share this document, produced by the World Council of Churches, which is addressed to churches, church communities, ecumenical organizations, theological faculties, seminaries and other partners -- including ourselves -- around the globe. It is an invitation to more intensive theological reflection and action on what an Economy of Life means and how it can be implemented.

In January 2014, Ekklesia made available the document 'International financial transformation for the economy of life' from the World Council of Churches (http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/node/19965).

Along with other research bodies, churches, seminaries, NGOs and ecumenical organisations, we are now in receipt of the WCC's call for theological reflection and action towards a renewed “economy of life” - focussing on meeting the needs of communities faced with unprecedented financial and economic crises, the threat of climate change and widespread ecological devastation.

The document, entitled The Economy of Life: An Invitation to Theological Reflection and Action, is an outcome of the WCC consultation held in October 2014 in Chennai, India. The event was organized by the WCC project on Poverty, Wealth and Ecology.
