Preview: Ekklesia commentary on the 2015 Summer Budget

Chancellor George Osborne has promised "bold" policies that will "secure Britain's future" for his 2015 Budget, which will be unveiled when he addresses the House of Commons from 12.30pm today (Wednesday 8 July).

As usual, Ekklesia will be offering budget reports, commentary and analysis from our team of staff and associates, and also from key allies in other policy bodies and NGOs with whom we collaborate.

Ekklesia's chief operating officer, Virginia Moffatt, will be interviewed outside parliament by LBC at 2pm, and our good friend Dr Simon Duffy, from Centre for Welfare Reform (with whom we coordinated the recent highy-publicised Open Letter to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions) will be commenting on ITV from around 1pm. Meanwhile, Richard Murphy of Tax Research is on the BBC Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show.

Simon Barrow, Ekklesia's co-director will be commenting and doing interviews from Edinburgh.

As usual, our concern is to look at the implications of the budget for the most vulnerable people, those on low incomes, disabled and sick people, the jobless or under-employed, the growing 'precariat' -- and to highlight or propose alternative perspectives, policies and challenges that serve the interests of people and planet.
