Shadow Chancellor granted urgent question relating to budget

March 21, 2016

Today (21 March 2016), Labour Whips confirmed that the Shadow Chancellor, John McDonnell has been granted an urgent question in relation to last week's budget.

Mr McDonnell is raising the question in relation to the 'U- turn' on cuts to Personal Independent Payments, confirmed by the Prime Minister's spoksperson at the No10 lobby briefing earlier.

The question will be answered by Treasury Minister David Gauke, rather than the Chancellor, George Osborne, who is due to wind up the budget debate tomorrow. Apparently, this will be the first time that a Chancellor has concluded the debate since Kenneth Clarke occupied the position.

The Urgent Question has been scheduled for 3.30pm on 21 March.
