Ekklesia founder Jonathan Bartley is standing down as co-director of the organisation after 14 years.
Simon Barrow, who has been Ekklesia’s co-director since 2005, is continuing as the sole director of the politics and beliefs think tank.
The decision follows the announcement in the media that Jonathan Bartley is a candidate for co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, together with Caroline Lucas MP.
The result of that election will be announced in September 2016. Bartley remains an unremunerated, non-executive member of the Ekklesia board in the meantime.
Ekklesia director Simon Barrow said: “Ekklesia has no party affiliation, but we wish Jonathan all the very best in his chosen path.
“We know that he will continue to stand for the values of social justice, environmental action, peacemaking and global responsibility which have characterised his work with us since 2002.”
Ekklesia is a pioneering think tank rooted in the dissenting Christian tradition, but it works with those of other faith or non-religious ethical belief in seeking transformative solutions to local and global challenges.
