Amnesty International has teamed up with other human rights organisations to campaign for a stay of execution. The protest concerns Troy Davis who is accused of killing a police officer in the state of Georgia, in the USA. The case has been very charged and campaigners do not believe justice is being done.
Since being convicted as a teenager in 1991, seven out of nine witnesses have recanted their statements against him. Fresh evidence also points to another man being the shooter, and there is a complete absence of physical evidence against Davis.
Many thousands of people across the world are up in arms at the obvious injustice of the case. Protests are being focused on a Global Day of Action, scheduled for May 19.
