Politics has a new voice of pod

Democratic change and civil liberties, with a local, legal and non-party twist, is the focus of a new politics podcasting and newsletter initiative.

Called Politalks (http://politalks.co.uk/), it's the latest brainchild of leading UK politics blogger and commentator Matt Wardman.

He writes: "I am keen to see a recovery in political life after recent ructions, and more than 25 years of a centralising trend. I’m particularly interested in non-party aligned and local political life.

"Politalks aims to support these objectives, by carrying interviews both with national figures about politics and current affairs, but also with lesser known figures who have an interesting perspective.

"Interviews are usually around half an hour in length.

I am working with Mike Semple-Pigott, who edits the Charon QC podcast (http://charonqc.wordpress.com/) and InsiteLaw Magazine (http://www.insitelawmagazine.com/). He covers mainly legal subjects, but has been moving into the Civil Liberties area, and is now dipping a toe into politics."

I've had a column on the excellent Wardman Wire (http://www.mattwardman.com/) for some time (though I haven't written for it for a while) and my colleague Jonathan Bartley will be doing an interview for Matt soon.
