Human rights defenders offering humanitarian aid and support to refugees and migrants in northern France face harassment, intimidation and violent assaults by the French authorities, a new report by Amnesty International says.

HMP Onley, a training prison in Warwickshire, was found by inspectors to be “fundamentally unsafe” with high levels of drugs and violence.

Manchester prison was found by inspectors to have become less safe and respectful, and to have deteriorated in its provision of training and education.

HMP Long Lartin, which holds some of the most dangerous and serious offenders was found by inspectors to be a stable and well-controlled prison.
