An amendment opening the way for possible alignment in gambling regulation between Northern Ireland and mainland Britain has been accepted by the Government.
Citizens Advice is calling on the government to take advantage of unused powers to require betting companies to pay more towards tackling gambling-related harm, instead of allowing the industry to decide how much they contribute.
Churches and faith-based organisations have welcomed the Government’s consultation on changes to gaming machines, but warned that the range of options presented for a maximum stake for fixed-odd betting terminals is too wide.
