Britain Yearly Meeting, the national organisation of Quakers in Britain, has furloughed a significant number of staff in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Trustees of Britain Yearly Meeting and Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre have this week agreed to work together to radically change the way the two organisations support Quakers across Britain.
A group of staff from Britain Yearly Meeting, the charity which manages the central policy, property, staff and work of Quakers in Britain, have had a request rejected by the Treasury. They wanted to exercise their right of conscientious objection to war by ensuring that none of their taxes are used for military purposes.
Quakers from around the UK gathered at Friends' House in London from 24-27 May for Britain Yearly Meeting and have now issued the Yearly Meeting Epistle for 2013
Paul Parker, newly appointed as the most senior member of staff among Britain's Quakers, has criticised the government's cuts and said they will increase poverty.
