FAQ 14: Why focus on Christianity in a multi-faith and/or post-religious environment?
We are Christians taking responsibility for the inheritance, politically and theologically, which comes to us in a troubled world. We want to affirm our convictions in an open but self-critical way. We encourage people of other faith or of secularist or humanist outlook to do likewise. And we look forward to the ongoing dialogue and debate with them. That’s what keeps us, and the fragile thing we call society, healthy.
Oh, and religion may be changing – shrinking in some parts, growing in others – but it isn’t going away. Nor is secularity as a way of trying to keep the public sphere open. We need to find ways of running the two together.
