Day of action against austerity: 'Can you afford Christmas?'
As winter comes, the impacts of the government's cuts in social spending and welfare are increasingly tangible, as more and more people struggle to make ends meet.
At the same time, real wages continue to decline, precarious working conditions mean continuous insecurity, energy prices have risen extortionately and people are being forced into poverty and into the hands of loan sharks just to meet their everyday needs.
The People’s Assembly Against Austerity has organised a national day of action on Saturday 14 December 2013.
With people across Britain taking to the high streets, the aim is to highlight the impact of austerity on ordinary people. These range from actions targeting loan sharks and energy companies, through to tax dodgers and corporations using zero hours contracts.
