The world is navigating away from fossil fuels and sailing towards a clean, sustainable energy future, despite Donald Trump’s attempts to sabotage global efforts to tackle climate change, said Christian Aid at the close of the G20 summit.

As nations meet in Marrakesh, Morocco to plot the global response to climate change, more than 120 organisations, including faith groups, southern movements and anti-poverty charities, have called for an end for all forms of public support for coal expansion and the world’s wealthiest economies to renounce coal totally. 

The TUC has published a new report outlining how the UK can undergo a clean energy transition to create high-quality jobs and secure a major share of the future clean energy industry, which is estimated to be worth $500 billion globally.

The UK government has been accused of making an empty pledge on overseas fossil fuel projects, in another blow to its green pretensions.
